Elements and Principles of Design

Elements and Principles of Design

1. This picture was taken to represent the principle of pattern. The three lines that are the colors red, blue, and pink. This re-occurring set of lines create the pattern that goes all the way down the covers of my planner.
 2. This picture was taken as a representation of the element of value. In the picture there is three different colors of green and each green is is a different shade. The dark green is what we would think of as the typical secondary green color where as the other two green tints have more yellow or white in the green to make the color lighter. This is a bulletin board in the Great Plains East dorm.
3. This picture is a chair in the School of Education offices. I choose to take a picture of this chair because it showed really good movement.  The lines of the chair are in such different little swirls that look like the lines are swirling around on the chair.
4. This picture was chosen to show the shape of the tiles on the floor of the bathroom. The tiles are a square shape that is repeated over and over across the entire floor on the bathroom.
5. This picture was taken to show the element of texture. In the picture, you can imagine what the picture would feel like to touch it. This picture was taken in the offices of the School of Education and it is of a cubical wall.
